Free: Chevron Print & Christmas Card template

I love am obsessed with chevron. I don't know what it is about those Charlie-Brown-esque triangular lines, but I can't stop thinking about it.

I wanted to incorporate a grey chevron on my Christmas card this year, so I hopped on over to Etsy to see what the experts were making.

I really love the grey and red with the black & white pic.

I liked how the red framed the pictures in this one.

But my favorite lay-out was this one:

There are lots of great deals on Christmas card designs / prints on Etsy. But I did take a graphic design class as part of my masters, so I was totally determined to do this myself.

I found a free chevron print background for the card, but the stripes were too wide for what I wanted to make.

You are probably going to laugh at this...what the heck...I'll tell you anyway. I have the Adobe CS5 on my computer, but I am still learning how to use it. So...I did most of my graphic design in PowerPoint. You would be amazed at what you can do in PowerPoint!  Anyhow, I decided to make my own chevron print. I thought you might like to use it in the future so here is a down-loadable version! (PS I hope it works for you, if not let me know.) Now it isn't perfect, but it works well as a background for things...like a Christmas card!

The image will open in your web browser, just right click and download.

I tried lots of different things, and finally found this lay-out that I want to use on my Christmas card.

So after I made all of the shapes and formatted the card, I then opened that jpg in Photoshop to add the text and images. I need to change the picture because this one was taken on my phone, and the resolution is not good enough for the card, but I will add a new pic before I send these out....that way it will still look different for my friends who are receiving it!

The fonts I used on this card were downloaded from dafont. If you don't have Photoshop you can download a free program called Gimp, I haven't used it before, but the author of 33shadesofgreen says it's a great program.

I really love it! And I hope you enjoy the free downloads today. Let me know if you use either of them and send me a copy of what you make with it at travelshoes@gmail.com so that I can post your creations on my blog!

Have a very very very merry Wednesday! Oh and go here to find out how you can win a Felt Pendant as part of my Giveaway that closes tonight!
